The Kangaroo series produced by the Royal Australian Mint is one of the foundation series of Australian decimal coinage and is widely collected.
There is in my opinion a significant opportunity that has developed in this very popular series.

It seems the actual bullion market as opposed to the paper (digital ) market is experiencing large increases in demand.
What caught my attention were two releases from world mints.
The first was from the US Mint who has temporary run out of Silver American Eagles after experiencing record sales.
The Deadly & Dangerous series from the Perth Mint is now available in a special release pure Gold Set. Given the amazing success of the Silver series starting with the Red back spider in 2006 now selling for between $1200 and $1500 and the other years going up in price this may be a good set to have. The increase in the gold price will also push this set along.
The Australian Antarctic series is one of my favourites and has been ever since I started to collect coins 5 years ago. It is a beautifully designed and well thought out series with great presentation. To continue with my ‘must have’ theme put this series on the list now.
What is happening to the price?

What a great year for new coin releases and still more to come. Many collectors don’t like so many coin releases – and this year there does seem to be a lot of them! However, they do bring new collectors into the fold, and generally create excitement around coin collecting as a worthwhile, rewarding hobby and investment vehicle.
